It’s wild to think that James Vickery has been on our radar for quite a few years now, but that’s because he keeps on delivering the best fusion of soul and R&B to ever exist. The South Londoner’s continuous drive to craft the most luscious ballads shouldn’t be overlooked, so it’s about time you start paying attention to Vickery. Following the unveiling of his highly anticipated debut album last year, Vickery is pleased to present his utterly precious new single, “The Reason.”

On “The Reason,” James Vickery shared,

“After my album, I was trying desperately to find something that made me feel something the way a lot of those songs did. I had an idea to recreate some of the most (in my opinion) romantic songs of all time. I can’t lie, ‘Wonderful Tonight’ by Eric Clapton and ‘Movie’ by Tom Misch were big inspirations for me.”

Produced by the one and only Fred Cox, “The Reason” is a stunning offering mastered to perfection. Not only are we spoiled by Vickery’s effervescent crooning, but we’re also treated to a gorgeous storyline about losing yourself to genuine love. Even more than that, we suggest you slow dance along to “The Reason” with the person closest to you now and experience true bliss.

“And with this bedroom soul/R&B sound I had to draw inspiration from the greatest to have done it, D’Angelo. ‘The Reason’ is about that stage with someone where it’s now become more than love, that nothing else matters anymore.”
