New Friends is one of our favorite Canadian finds lately, and for good reason. Bouncing around the indie-alternative pop sphere, this fun-loving quartet is comprised of Stefan Boulineau, Ayden Miller, Cole Wilson, and Conrad Galecki. Coming a long way since they met as music students in 2018, New Friends is more than ready to unleash their vivacious new single, “Doomed.”
On “Doomed,” New Friends shared,
“Our new single, ‘Doomed,’ revolves around the idea of being self aware of the chaotic energy you bring into your love life. When relationship after relationship fails, often we give up and say, ‘Well, I guess I’m just really bad at this ‘love’ thing.’”
Opening with a righteous bass line and lighthearted vocals, “Doomed” sets the mood for a fantastic live performance. Lyrically, this jam packed tune serves as a warning for anyone who’s not quite sure what type of person they’re investing themselves in. More than anything, we’re blown away by New Friends’ undeniably infectious energy that’ll have you on your feet in no time.
“‘Doomed’ has a Y2K dance party vibe, with the song’s upbeat nature playing a satirical role as you’re almost dancing and partying to the fact that you’ve failed so many times at love that you deem yourself unloveable.”
