For the past five years, Lyle Kam has been writing, producing, and mixing his own music, and we’re all for it. While studying engineering at the University of Waterloo, Kam has been building his fanbase of listeners who can truly connect with his vulnerable lyricism. Always introspective and honest, Kam is back with a heartfelt new single, “isn’t it funny.”

Struggling with his identity as a musician, Kam penned “isn’t it funny” about the need to travel constantly and the effect it’s had on his daily life. Layered with pulsating electronics and vibrant synths, “isn’t it funny” feels like that nostalgic hug you’d get when you reunite with someone at the airport. By the end of this brilliantly precious track, our hearts are feeling whole again.

On “isn’t it funny,” Lyle Kam reflected,

“Making this song, I wanted it to feel really air-y and dreamlike, similar to how you would imagine it feels being on a plane since a big motif of the song was the idea of having to constantly be traveling. So I played around with different elements to really give that feeling of elevation. Still, I made sure to have the emotional aspect of the song come through since this song, at the heart of it, is about not being able to see someone that you miss.”
