A self-proclaimed oddball, Rachel Grae has always been known for her vulnerability but it wasn’t until she made her debut last year that we really understood just how musically gifted she is. Carving out a slice of the pop industry just for herself, Grae is unlike any other artist you’d hear on the radio today because of her refreshingly creative lyricism paired with dominant powerhouse vocals. Following a moment of TikTok virality, Grae has finally unleashed her incredible new single, “Friend Like Me.”
The rising New York songstress has been through her fair share of friendship breakups, so it’s no surprise that “Friend Like Me” was a breeze for her to pen. Whether it’s Grae’s cheeky lyricism or the surreal production, this banger of an anthem is truly inescapable. As the impeccable track draws to a close, we only wish we’d discovered Grae sooner.
On “Friend Like Me,” Rachel Grae explained,
“‘Friend Like Me’ is about one-sided friendships. Often the person that checks up on others, is the one who rarely gets checked up on. I posted a video of me singing this chorus idea while making eggs on TikTok, and it blew up! Producers started hopping on the track and everyone started asking me for a full version. Two days later, I wrote and recorded the full track. This song and the response from everyone means the world to me and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”
