Born in Georgia and raised in Maryland, mazie spent most of her childhood singing classical and jazz styles until she developed her signature indie pop sound. While most of her ever growing discography is sonically joyous, mazie tends to unwrap her existential side in her complex lyricism. As her second release of the year, mazie is more than pleased to present her precious new single, “somebody to lose.”

A self-trained master at putting her emotions under a magnifying glass in each impeccable song, mazie does exactly that in “somebody to lose.” Although she knows how to spot red flags in a questionable person, “somebody to lose” suggests that mazie is willing to push through the worst of the worst for what she wants. Between the twangy guitars and playful Wurlitzer waves, “somebody to lose” is an excellent preview of what to expect from mazie’s musical direction moving forward.

On “somebody to lose,” mazie reflected,

“This one is really big for me because it makes me feel like I’m out here making the music I’ve always wanted to make!! Hope you love her as much as I do.”
