Music has changed the lives of millions for centuries, and Maddie Zahm is no exception. The Boise-bred 24-year-old crafts heart-on-sleeve discography that has us reaching for tissues instantly. After leaving the church community, Zahm uncovered a part of herself that deserves to be cherished, which she’s now shedding light on with her transformative new single, “You Might Not Like Her.”
Now identifying as queer, Zahm lives unapologetically and writes underrated pop ballads like “You Might Not Like Her” while she’s at it. A deeply intimate track that has Zahm reliving her journey to self discovery and acceptance, “You Might Not Like Her” is a sonic masterpiece if we’ve ever heard one. Just as impactful, the accompanying visual is a tribute to Zahm’s most vulnerable moments that eventually lead to some much needed closure.
On “You Might Not Like Her,” Maddie Zahm reflected,
“‘You Might Not Like Her’ was the easiest song I wrote on the EP. Most of my past work has been about my relationships with other people and never about my relationship with myself. This was the first time I allowed myself to be truly vulnerable in my music and it kickstarted my project. It means the world to me because it’s how I came out to myself and my family.”
