After coming to the realization that the grinding Los Angeles lifestyle wasn’t for her, Cate ventured out to London right before the pandemic. Now at peace with herself, the 23-year-old has found herself penning love letters to one of England’s greatest. If life has been a bit too rushed for you, Cate would like to slow it down for you with her pivotal new single, “Ruin.”
On “Ruin,” Cate shared,
“The guy I’m seeing right now has basically been in a lot more relationships than I’ve been in, so I know if we break up, it’s basically gonna hurt me a lot more than it’s gonna hurt him. And I wrote a song about that.”
It’s only natural to be weary of budding relationships because they could come to a heartbreaking halt at any point, and that’s exactly what Cate relays in “Ruin.” Cate’s effortlessly gorgeous vocals paired with encompassing instrumentals are everything we could ask for. By the end of this introspective track, Cate will make you regret the lonely time you were closed off to everyone in your life.
“‘Ruin’ is the first single from my new EP, which was written during my first and second year of living in London. I really think this new project is almost a love letter to this city. I’ve learned many many things since my move and I’m ecstatic for you to hear them through the songs. This [is one] for yelling at the top of your lungs!!”
