Matilda Cole is one of Brighton’s most promising prospects… or at least we think so. Cole crafts indie pop that ranges from slow burning ballads to lighthearted bops, which has always been one of our favorite things about this British newcomer. With October coming to an end, it’s only right that Cole dedicates her festive new single to her favorite holiday: “Halloween.”

On “Halloween,” Matilda Cole explained,

“Halloween has always been my favorite time of year. I start planning my costumes on October 1st, and force my family to carve pumpkins the second it’s October, so I wanted to write a song about how much I love Halloween.”

Beneath this celebration of the night of trick or treats, “Halloween” has Cole begging someone to stay with her because she dreads being alone. Sonically, “Halloween” incorporates eerie wurlitzers and ghostly harmonies that make for the spookiest of indie pop tracks. To top it off, the accompanying video invites you to the best Halloween party of your life without leaving your living room.

“Underneath it though, this song is about having to beg someone to be kind to you, and to spend time with you. About how you would do anything to make them stay, just so you’re not alone.”
