There’s no denying that our lives changed from the moment we were introduced to the magnificence that is the Brooklyn-based seven-piece, Juice. What’s so special about Juice is that their versatility and experimentation as a genre-bending outfit leaves us dying to know what’s coming next. If you’re in the mood for some tasty alternative rock, let Juice satisfy your craving with their outstanding new single, “Girlfriend Song.”
Every Juice release is mixed and mastered to perfection, but we’d argue that “Girlfriend Song” surpasses all the others because of its endless layers of pulsating instrumentals. Lyrically, “Girlfriend Song” portrays the narrative of someone completely losing their mind… And isn’t that something we’ve all done at one point? To top it off, the accompanying visual pays homage to Scooby Doo and lets us in on a bizarre voodoo chess match.
On “Girlfriend Song,” Juice explained,
“We started out with a simple guitar line that the instrumental of the song naturally came together around. It had a sort of unhinged irony present in every aspect of the track from its conception. Lyrically, the story of a manic character spiraling emotionally just felt fitting for the sonic landscape we’d created.”
