merci, mercy is easily one of our favorite finds ever, so don’t you dare sleep on the Australian indie pop scene. This bubbly 20-year-old creates magnificent tunes that really let us understand who she is and what she wants. Back with some brutal honesty, merci, mercy exposes her daydreaming self in her stellar new single, “Winnie Crush.”

Tackling the fine line between self-care and indulgence, “Winnie Crush” makes us realize that we all have some bad habits to overcome. Drenched in dancey synths and lively claps, “Winnie Crush” also treats us to merci, mercy’s splendid vocals that never fail to put a smile on our faces. To top it off, the accompanying visual offers an animated version of merci, mercy–alongside anthropomorphic cigarettes and wine glasses.

On “Winnie Crush,” merci, mercy explained,

“It’s about the toxic relationship that I have with myself. I can barely afford what is good for my body… let alone what’s bad for it. I’ve tricked myself to believe this is what is good for me, that it’s something that makes me happy. But I can’t afford to do this to myself anymore, I can’t afford a love that doesn’t exist.”
