This isn’t the first time we’ve covered Alex Porat, and it certainly won’t be the last. This rising Toronto pop star has always delivered loveable pop ballads, but it’s quite clear that she continues to grow with every jaw dropping release. Ready to win your heart over, Porat is spoiling us with her lighthearted new single, “taxi.”
On “taxi,” Alex Porat reflected,
“I wanted ‘taxi’ to reflect how it feels to have a crush on someone. When you want someone but you’re dead set on never telling them how you feel so you just live your life in limbo.”
More than anything, “taxi” introduces us to a more experimental side of Porat, as we find ourselves banging our heads along to electrifying synths. As Porat acknowledges her fleeting opportunity to confess her feelings to her crush, “taxi” is your sign to be honest with yourself and others about how you feel. For a change of scenery, the “taxi” visual follows Porat on an imaginary date, but that could very well become a reality for you…
“I think about all the times I kept how I’ve felt about someone to myself because it feels so safe to keep it all a secret. I love that the music video is the daydream of what could happen if I didn’t build walls around my feelings.”
