Not everyone has the privilege of working on all of their releases in a fancy studio, so we’re not surprised to learn that Marco Luka records some of his music on a USB gaming mic. The Cuban American fuses together Latin, trap, and indie with a completely DIY approach that’ll leave you speechless. To challenge himself as an artist, Luka has bestowed upon us his most vulnerable single to date: “get me high.”
On “get me high,” Marco Luka shared,
“‘get me high’ is a beautiful piano ballad with some bass punch. To me, it feels very intimate and vulnerable, yet powerful at the same time. The song itself is about being so in love with someone you can’t see past it no matter what, almost like something you can’t get out of your system. I’m happy to be putting out a song with my vocals at the forefront. I spent a lot of time in the studio with Neek to get the vocals that sounded most vulnerable and the right amount of imperfection.”
Led entirely by Luka’s raw vocals, “get me high” will absolutely strike a chord deep within your soul. As Luka touches on what it’s like to be desperately in love with someone, the enchanting pianos really drive his message home. As “get me high” draws to a quick close, we can’t help but feel empty inside as we await Luka’s next single.
“We weren’t afraid to kick everyone out when I was writing too, which was mostly a lot of just honest conversation back and forth. I think that helped the song just kind of pour out from me once I knew how I wanted it to feel, and I can’t wait for people to take in the rawness and beauty of this one.”
