Stockholm’s Sofia Monroy has spent the past year practically living in the studio, and she’s finally ready to give us a tiny glimpse of what we can expect from her moving forward. Inspired by Scandanavian pop and mariachi, Monroy has crafted an infectious pop soundscape we can’t get enough of. As her first release of 2021, Monroy is pleased to present her exquisite new single, “Sweet Temptation.”
On “Sweet Temptation,” Sofia Monroy explained,
“‘Sweet Temptation,’ and my upcoming EP, is to me, about female liberation. I struggled a lot earlier with taking control over the music-making process and trust[ing] my own opinion. I think it’s easy as a young female to question yourself when other people, especially men, are trying to decide for you.”
Opening with breathy vocals, “Sweet Temptation” immediately draws us in with ease as the seductive guitars comfort our ears. Lyricially, Monroy incorporates Spanish and English, creating a gorgeous fusion of bilingual words that leaves us intrigued and amazed. By the end of this bold track, Monroy hopes that “Sweet Temptation” will make you feel more empowered than ever before.
“It’s been a challenge, and still is sometimes, but I’ve taken the control into my own hands, and because of that, I’m very excited for this release. It’s more me, more eccentric, and it’s been a self-exploring journey that I can’t wait to share with everyone.”
