It’s been a few months since we last heard from Slush Puppy, but we’re so thankful he’s finally back with more of his teeth clenching alternative pop. The Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer not only knows exactly how to reel us in, but he’s also become a master at keeping us engaged. Ahead of his forthcoming EP, Slush Puppy has unleashed his hypnotic new single, “Barbie Doll.”

Drenched in enticing vocal warps and electrifying synths, “Barbie Doll” is one of those unskippable tracks that’ll be stuck in your head for the foreseeable future. Written about overcompensating for insecurities, “Barbie Doll” captures exactly what plenty of us have experienced when we act differently so someone will like us. As edgy as it is brutally honest, “Barbie Doll” confirms why Slush Puppy deserves to be on your radar.

On “Barbie Doll,” Slush Puppy explained,

“‘Barbie Doll’ is about wanting to be with someone so bad that you are willing to change your entire self and character to keep their attention. I wanted to creatively express what it feels like to overcompensate for being insecure.”
