This New Jersey talent has a way with words that you’d never find in another musician, but it’s about time you hear for yourself. In his classic heart-on-sleeve fashion, MacPherson is spilling everything onto the page with his soul-stirring new single, “Perfect Conditions.”
If you’ve ever been through any kind of breakup, MacPherson is here with “Perfect Conditions” to confirm that that relationship of yours wasn’t meant to last forever. “Perfect Conditions” practically serves as a mental boost that reminds us of what true love is meant to be like. If MacPherson’s utterly captivating vocals won’t be enough to whisk you off your feet, we don’t know what will.

To celebrate the release of his new music, we recently chatted with Sam MacPherson about writer’s block, tour plans, and of course, “Perfect Conditions.”
HH: You already know how obsessed we are with you and your incredible music. How does it feel to know that your art has impacted so many lives around the world?
SM: You guys have been so kind and generous with your words, so first off, thanks for that. It’s incredible! I love reading messages people send me telling me they’ve taken the songs home and let them keep them company.
HH: Let’s take a moment to appreciate the greatness that is “Perfect Conditions.” How did this impeccable song come to be?
SM: I wrote this song with my close friend and frequent co-writer Adam Yaron. I had written a chorus idea and a piano part and brought them with me to our session. In a few hours, we had the song.
HH: What inspired the cinematic instrumentals of “Perfection Conditions?”
SM: The original piano part I had was the driving part for the chorus rhythm. The rest of the arrangement and production is simply Adam being the genius he is.
HH: If you were to have everyone learn one lesson from this song, what would it be?
SM: The biggest obstacles between people and the kind of relationships they want are often the obstacles they create for themselves.
HH: Do you ever deal with writer’s block? How do you overcome it?
SM: I think everyone does. When I can’t write, I simply don’t. It does nothing for me to try and force something that’s not there. I’ll go for a walk or a surf. Really, I’ll do anything but music.
HH: We’ve really been enjoying your heartfelt covers on social media, and it’s been awesome to hear how you make each of these songs your own. Who would absolutely blow your mind if they covered one of your songs?
SM: John Mayer.
HH: Do you have any plans for live shows anytime soon?! Will we be seeing you in LA?
SM: Absolutely! In the process of locking in some tour dates for the fall!
