Born and raised in Manchester, Lewis Kelly hasn’t been releasing music for very long yet, but it’s quite clear that he’s here for the long haul. The gifted 19-year-old is committed to being fully transparent and genuine in his vulnerable lyricism, which is something we’ll always appreciate about certain songwriters. As the first taste of his forthcoming project, Kelly has unveiled his precious new single, “employed.”
A delicate fusion of chill pop and lo-fi beats, “employed” is worthy of a chef’s kiss and then some. With airy vocals, charming instrumentals, and soothing melodies, “employed” is the type of stellar cut that’s impossible to grow tired of. As Kelly croons about wanting to pursue his passion, “employed” reminds us that not everything goes as planned… but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to change the future.
