Finland’s Lxandra has been continually impressing us, and she’s nowhere near done quite yet. Demonstrating her own version of alternative pop, Lxandra incorporates experimental instrumentals into her discography, which is a technique of hers we’re incredibly fond of. Ahead of her forthcoming debut album, Careful What I Dream Of, Lxandra is treating us to her effervescent new single, “Sideways.”
With a drizzle of old school funk, “Sideways” offers a much more lighthearted side of Lxandra. As someone who genuinely cares about the effect her touching music has on listeners, Lxandra uses “Sideways” to remind us that we shouldn’t settle for anything less than what we deserve. In the accompanying 70s themed music video, we find a dazzling Lxandra dancing the night away with her glamorous friends.
On “Sideways,” Lxandra explained,
“‘Sideways’ is probably the most fun song on the album. To me, it’s about realizing your own self worth and hopefully learning to leave behind things that you know are not good for you, even though it’s hard.”
