Wallice has by far been one of our favorite artist discoveries of 2021, and she’s keeping the ball rolling with even more infectious hidden hits. With her forthcoming debut EP arriving next month, Wallice continues to prove exactly why she deserves to be the new face of Gen-Z. Now a 23-year-old with plentiful life experiences, Wallice is ready to present her enticing new single, “Off the Rails.”
On “Off the Rails,” Wallice shared,
“‘Off the Rails’ is about feeling like you don’t have any control over your life and that the world is against you – and that you’re the only one that feels that way. Sometimes there are periods in your life when it’s easy to think your life is falling apart, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it or fix it.”
We’ve all felt overwhelmed with life at some point, and Wallice has simply framed this cruel experience into the fantastic cut that is “Off the Rails.” Sonically, “Off the Rails” is layered with hazy vocals and grinding guitars that’ll remind you of why Wallice’s production is absolutely impeccable. Inspired by The Sims game, the “Off the Rails” visual has Wallice navigating through a world that’s being controlled by someone behind a computer screen.
“I think sometimes it’s okay to sit in that self pity, but also at the same time you have the power to control it and take responsibility for your actions, at least to an extent. Sometimes there are just rough patches, and you have to do your best to get out of them, roll with the punches, and try not to be a shitty person.”
