Brooklyn-based Kaelin Kost has been sharpening her artistic sensibilities as a professional print designer for a few years, but now she’s determined to stun the world with her utterly charming music. With the utmost ease, Kost leaves us speechless and begging for more hushed pop from this emerging newcomer. Without further ado, we’re more than pleased to introduce you to Kost’s bittersweet new single, “Lightning Love.”

Incorporating a sense of nostalgia, “Lightning Love” reminds us of young love that isn’t meant to last. Between Kost’s delicate vocals and the captivating strumming, “Lightning Love” is as earwormy as it gets. More than anything, “Lightning Love” reaffirms that love can blind even the most independent souls.

On “Lightning Love,” Kaelin Kost reflected,

“‘Lightning Love’ is a bittersweet song about a relationship that’s intense and passionate, but ultimately unstable and fleeting. I like that it comes across as a love song in feel and melody (with a hint of cassette tape nostalgia), but if you listen to the lyrics, it’s actually about something quite toxic. Hence, ‘drowning when the seas are rough, but when it’s calm it’s not enough.’ It’s about initially thinking you have the upper hand in a relationship, but ending up fragile, vulnerable, ‘struck.’”
