America’s emerging sweetheart, Lexi Jayde has been melting our hearts since her charming debut last year. Now 18 years old, Jayde pens the most relatable coming-of-age stories in ways you wouldn’t believe. With plenty more music on the way, Jayde is treating us to a comforting new single, “running in place.”
All of us have been dealing with the current pandemic in our own ways, but Jayde captures the overall teenage experience with the past year in “running in place.” Layered with gorgeous acoustics and soothing harmonies, “running in place” really does lift our spirits one verse at a time. Filled with old home videos of Jayde’s childhood, the accompanying visual has Jayde floating in a pool with absolutely nowhere to go.
On “running in place,” Lexi Jayde shared,
“I felt like I was stuck in the same place, nothing changing, doing the same thing over and over every morning… I felt as if I was standing still and just stuck. That’s what this song is about – for people to know they’re not alone with those feelings and that we all have those days.”
