With only a handful of releases under his belt, Porsh Bet$ is the latest newcomer making Harlem proud. The 21-year-old dropped out of college after attending for just two months, but now that he’s gaining considerable traction making music… that may have been the best decision of his life. With his highly anticipated debut EP in the works, Porsh Bet$ is giving us a generous preview by way of his astounding new single, “Peanut Butter.”
On “Peanut Butter,” Porsh Bet$ shared,
“When I wrote it, I was definitely just kinda daydreaming about the most perfect scenario – you know, with a girl and a fancy car on a nice day. ‘Cause I’m allergic to peanut butter, I really shouldn’t be near it, but it sucks because everyone else loves it! It looks good, but once I get too close, I get nauseous. I think of it like this – sometimes being left out is a good thing.”
An effortlessly gorgeous fusion of alternative pop and R&B, “Peanut Butter” showcases precious guitar plucks and timeless cymbals. Porsh Bet$ wrote “Peanut Butter” about wanting something he can’t have, and that’s definitely a concept we can all resonate with. To top it off, the accompanying visual juxtaposes the summery track’s playful melodies with a snowy ski mountain resort.
“I really wanted to make it the anti music video. It’s not flashy, it’s awkward, I’m all over the place, I don’t get the girl in the end. But you know that’s what makes it cool though because this is how I am in real life and I felt like people would relate more to that. My friend Tino showed me this old music video for that song ‘Last Christmas’ by Wham! and I thought it was cute. That’s really why we ended up shooting in the snow at a ski mountain even though this is like a summery song that would just be basic.”
