It’s not every day we hear new music from Australia’s emerging trios, but daste. certainly delivers the purest alternative indie tunes. From their hazy electronica to their laid back synths, daste. really does it all. Before they unveil their forthcoming debut album, dusk / dawn, daste. is spoiling us with an irresistible new single, “expectations.”
On “expectations,” daste. shared,
“’expectations’ was written during the same period as a lot of the songs from our upcoming album. We mixed some different ideas and as soon as we had the most of the song figured out, we knew Connor (Akurei) would be perfect for the track. We sent off a bounce with a space for him to do a second verse and we were blown away when we listened to what he had done. The song had completely come to life. The cherry on top!”
A collaboration with fellow Gold Coast artist Akurei, “expectations” is an impeccable sonic offering that features charming vocals alongside funky electronics. While daste. encourages us to reject society’s unbelievably outdated standards in “expectations,” we can’t help but sway along to the soothing instrumentals. By the end of this ethereal track, we’re convinced that we need to keep an eye on daste. this year because big things are coming.
Akurei added,
“I’ve been a huge fan of daste. since their first release and was stoked when they hit me up to work on this song together. It was fun for me to be a little more involved in the production and instrumental work compared to other collaborations, and really exciting to see the song through from first demo to final version.”
