Growing up just outside of Los Angeles, Abby Sunga took her first piano lesson at age six and hasn’t given up on music since. Even if you don’t know her personally, her moving discography will have you convinced that the two of you have met in another life. Finally ready to open her heart to the world, Sunga has unveiled her emotional debut single, “tonight.”
On “tonight,” Abby Sunga explained,
“The lyrics of ‘tonight’ are such a large piece of my heart and I wasn’t prepared to give people access to my feelings and life so quickly. I had to close some doors regarding my feelings about the song and I think I’m ready now. Thank you thank you thank you for everything. You guys are so amazing and supportive of me and I hope this song makes you feel seen, makes you feel comforted, makes you wanna cry, literally every feeling possible.”
Although Sunga is only 17 years old, the California native has plenty of heartbreak stories to tell… starting with “tonight.” Layered with calming production alongside delicate pianos, “tonight” paints a picture of what kind of painful love Sunga has been through. Whether you interpret “tonight” as musical therapy or not, you can’t deny that it’ll make you shed a tear.
“I was in a completely different stage of my life when I wrote this song and listening to it helped me to grow exponentially. I always talk about how special this song is to me and I mean it. You guys are so special too. I’m so scared that it’s out but also very proud of myself.”
