Slush Puppy may only be 19 years old, but he’s quickly making a name for himself in the thriving alternative scene. The San Diego native is most known for pairing emo lyrics with hypnotic instrumentals, and we have to admit… it’s everything you could ever want. If you don’t believe us, let Slush Puppy convince you otherwise with his edgy new single, “Juliette.”
On “Juliette,” Slush Puppy shared,
“‘Juliette’ is the classic high school story of outcast boy wanting the coolest girl, but only being in love with a glamorized version of her. We romanticize people and build them up in our head so much that we catch feelings without really knowing them. We only see people’s highlights on social media and it is so easy to think that the person you see online is an accurate representation irl.”
Don’t let the delicate plucks or twinkling charms at the beginning of this cut fool you; “Juliette” is not for the faint-hearted. “Juliette” is the type of alternative pop rock song that’ll make you want to let your hair loose, headbang, and wake up your neighbors in the middle of the night. Lyrically, Slush Puppy reminds us that there’s so much more to a person than they lead on, so be careful with who you fall for — especially “Juliette.”
