Michal Leah’s “Bitter” Reminds Us of Why We Love Indie Pop

By Alissa Arunarsirakul // March 26, 2021

Although Michal Leah is only seventeen years old, she has already mastered quality songwriting that’ll take her very far in her career. First going public with her vocal abilities on social media last year, Leah has come such a long way—thanks to the people who encouraged her to keep singing. With her highly anticipated debut EP in the works, Leah is giving us a generous preview with her carefully crafted new single, “Bitter.”

On “Bitter,” Michal Leah shared,

“‘Bitter’ is a really personal song, not just for myself, but for anyone who relates to it. I feel like many of us have been in the situation where we feel played and used, so I decided to put those feelings and emotions in to a song.”

“Bitter” is the type of track that reminds people of why they love indie pop, and it’ll do the same to you. Written with the intention of helping people overcome emotional trauma, “Bitter” has Leah entirely spilling her heart onto the page. Between the bubbly electronics and wholesome lyricism, “Bitter” will certainly put Leah at the top of the indie pop charts in no time.

“Sometimes I convince myself that someone has good intentions, when they don’t have the best ones in mind. It’s painful, but it happens. I want people to be able to cope and heal through music, I think that can help someone get back on their feet.”
