If you’ve been reading our site for a while, you’d know how obsessed we are with the one and only, Florence Arman. Quite frankly, we’re more than certain that this British newcomer isn’t capable of writing a bad song. Ahead of her forthcoming debut EP, Arman is pleased to present her reflective new single, “Out of the Blue.”
On “Out of the Blue,” Florence Arman reflected,
“Initially when I was writing ‘Out of the Blue,’ I had a different singer in mind, but as I was writing the lyrics, they suddenly became quite personal. I told my brother about it and he said, ‘You can keep the good songs for yourself too, you know,’ so I did, and he then produced the song with filous. I sneakily wrote a lot of the lyrics during another session, where we were writing a different song.”
Breakups are incredibly heartbreaking, but Arman understands that friendships falling apart can be even more painful in “Out of the Blue.” A truly vulnerable cut that lets us into Arman’s personal life, “Out of the Blue” showcases nostalgic melodies alongside slick production. By the end of this wholesome tune, we’re convinced that 2021 will be Arman’s biggest year yet.
“At the time, I was having a hard time getting over a friendship that had ended in a very mysterious way. And in that session when we took a little break, I went to make myself a cup of tea in the studio kitchen and picked up a mug from the shelf that happened to have this friend’s name on it (not such a coincidence with hindsight, he has a pretty generic name). Then I had a little cry on the loo and wrote down a bunch of stuff I needed to get off my chest, and that became a large part of lyrics.“
