If you haven’t already heard of Charlie Houston, you’re about to discover your newest indie pop obsession. The 20-year-old is one of the most introspective artists we’ve come to know, and this is incredibly evident in her mature songwriting. Ahead of her forthcoming debut EP, I Hate Spring, Houston continues to impress us with her delectable new single, “Things.”
One of the first things you’ll notice about Houston is her irresistibly breathy vocals, which are perfectly showcased in “Things.” Adorned with downtempo beats and ethereal instrumentals, “Things” delivers the absolute best of Houston and her evolving soundscape. Needless to say, “Things” is a fantastic track we’d blast during late night drives down the West coast.
On “Things,” Charlie Houston shared,
“It’s sort of about becoming so infatuated with someone that you begin to lose sight of who you are. Also comparing yourself to the kind of person you think they want, and trying to become that.”
