We’ve always admired quality bedroom pop, but there’s something incredibly special about beaux’s otherworldly discography. As he continues to grow as an artist, we’re pleased to have come across beaux in the early stages of his promising music career. Better yet, it’s about time for you to familiarize yourself with the London-born talent with his charming new single, “what’s the point?”
On “what’s the point?,” beaux explained,
“‘what’s the point?’ is a focus on the positive aspects of my life in the past year. Like most, lots of my plans had to be cancelled, which was frustrating but it also allowed for more time with those closest to me. When restrictions eased during the summer, my girlfriend and I spent a lot of our days just skateboarding out in the sun. It was as if our way of life had slowed down, and reverted to simpler times.”
Even with its mellow instrumentals, “what’s the point?” is radiant, glistening, and perfection. As plenty of us were stuck in our homes for most of last year, beaux channeled his frustration into creating “what’s the point?,” which has definitely been easing our minds as we push through the pandemic. Since it’d be unsafe to film a music video outdoors, the “what’s the point?” visual was shot on a soundstage with summer-inspired visuals broadcasted behind beaux.
“I wanted the video to encapsulate the sentiment of the whole EP. The majority of my best memories have taken place outdoors in past summers, and last year, more than ever, it wasn’t really possible to meet with family and friends indoors, so EVERY good memory I made was outside. The screens act as a backdrop throughout the performance, showing different summer scenes that hopefully transport you from the cold winter soundstage in London, to the sunny places I’ve written about.”
