We’ve been patiently waiting for slenderbodies to blow our minds as they always have, and the day has finally come. Comprised of Max Vehuni and Benij Cormack, slenderbodies crafts the most delicate downtempo electronica tracks fit for the gods. Although they haven’t been making much noise in 2020, slenderbodies is back and better than ever with their charming new single, “cherry blossom.”

As dream pop continues to gain traction, we’re pleased to see slenderbodies on the rise. As the introspective duo reflects on miniscule parts of life that make it wonderful, “cherry blossom” is drizzled with wholesome synths and whirling electronics. For those of you missing your daily dose of slenderbodies, “cherry blossom” will surely satisfy your fix.

On “cherry blossom,” slenderbodies reflected,

“we went in the studio with jeremy from marian hill at the top of the year and he was working with a ton of granular synthesis on vocals and foley samples. if you’re unfamiliar, this kind of synthesis involves taking a really small sample (a “grain”) of a sound and warping it through repetition or stretching. you end up with these really wild sonic characteristics by focusing on such an atomic piece of the sound. we were super inspired by this, so when we sat down to write ‘cherry blossom,’ we wanted to apply the same technique to our guitar. every synth in the song is some amalgamation of vocals or guitar, granularized, and melded with other found sounds. the lyrics and story of ‘cherry blossom’ reflect this creative process as our protagonist finds themself looking for the little beauties around them — like patterns, colors, and nature.”
