Now based in Los Angeles, Tessa Kaye is finally here to pursue the music career she rightfully deserves. As a person of color raised in a widely white community, Kaye has faced plenty of adversity, but no obstacle was too massive for her to conquer. With more authenticity than ever before, Kaye is proud to present her charming new single, “You Know Who You Are and I Hate You.”

Opening with a phone vibrating, “You Know Who You Are and I Hate You” incorporates lullaby-like melodies that’ll make you feel young again. As Kaye reflects on her countless struggles with anxiety, “You Know Who You Are I Hate You” reminds us to be honest with ourselves and our mental state. Although we can’t quite categorize her growing discography as solely R&B or indie pop, Kaye has certainly won us over with her undeniable charisma.

On “You Know Who You Are and I Hate You,” Tessa Kaye reflected,

“Although it could be about a romantic relationship as well, I’m personally talking to my anxiety about the ways it has debilitated my life at times. I’ve had a lot of people try to tell me that my anxiety and how much I feel is a weakness. It’s taken a lot of self work for me to realize that there’s a strength in allowing yourself to simply be as weak as you feel in a moment. Black women in particular are always looked at as ‘strong black women’ and while yes, that is true, there are many sides to us.”
