Isaac Dunbar Hopes for a Brighter Future with “miss america”

By Alissa Arunarsirakul // September 30, 2020

We’ve been obsessed with Isaac Dunbar for quite some time, and for good reason. This 17-year-old is easily one of the most experimental alternative pop talents we’ve come across, and his latest release proves exactly that. As a way to cope with the current state of the country, Dunbar is leaving us stunned with his eye-opening new single, “miss america.”

On “miss america,” Isaac Dunbar reflected,

“In my 17 years, I’ve never felt this much tension and witnessed such division amongst a country that is supposed to be “united.” I will miss America, but in order for there to be peace, we need to go through this ugly phase.”

As hopeful as it is jaw-dropping, “miss america” features swirly electronics and meaningful lyricism that’ll make you believe in a brighter future. With Dunbar reflecting on the troubling times we’re currently facing, “miss america” directly calls out the lack of leadership we’re all aware of. The accompanying visual is entirely dedicated to the United States of America–with a special emphasis on the insufficient funding reserved for the U.S. Postal Service.

“While writing ‘miss america,’ I wanted to look at the current state of the country and try to put into words how it makes me feel. This song helps me cope with the current climate in my own way, understanding the struggle of America while trying not to be critical. We are entering a new phase of this country and I hope there is positive change around the corner.”
