Maisie Peters Refuses to Have a “Sad Girl Summer”

By Alissa Arunarsirakul // July 3, 2020

We can confidently say that Maisie Peters really is one of the UK’s most promising offerings. Having already garnered a considerable amount of attention from huge industry names and countless publications, Peters is making 2020 her best year yet. Shortly after launching her own book club, Peters isn’t slowing down at all with the release of her whimsical new single, “Sad Girl Summer.”

Adorned with intoxicating instrumentals, “Sad Girl Summer” is set to be this sunny season’s anthem for the people who are finally realizing who and what aren’t worth their precious time. As always, Peters dreamy vocals whisk us away to a state of bliss we don’t ever want to leave. The accompanying visual features Peters and company letting loose by way of oversized hoodies and face masks, which we’re absolutely living for.

On “Sad Girl Summer,” Maisie Peters shared,

“I wrote ‘Sad Girl Summer’ at the beginning of summer 2019, which ironically went on to be one of the best summers of my life! The song is all about letting go of things and people that aren’t worth your precious time and energy, and celebrating the people in your life that are.”
