ARI Wants the Best of Both Worlds in “Cold War”

By Alissa Arunarsirakul // June 26, 2020

At only 21 years old, ARI is the latest pop newcomer catching our airwaves. A talent like this Toronto native only comes around once in a blue moon, so we’re thrilled she takes it to the next level with every fantastic release. Ahead of her forthcoming EP, IDIOTGRL, ARI has unleashed her intoxicating new single, “Cold War.”

Written about ARI’s uneasiness with her personal and musical life colliding, “Cold War” explores ARI’s fears to the fullest. Drenched with fierce guitars and powerful vocals, “Cold War” will have you hooked in no time. The accompanying visual places ARI between two separate worlds–her home in Toronto and her newfound love for Los Angeles.

On “Cold War,” ARI explained,

“I tend to keep my worlds separate. I have amazing people that I grew up with in Toronto, as well as a second family in LA that I’ve found through my music journey. I’ve always been scared that these worlds, while coexistent, wouldn’t mix. I have a small circle of friends to begin with, so the thought that the people I love may not get along is a fear of mine. This song is about those worlds colliding and my paranoia of them not being able to exist as one.”
