Get ready to meet your new favorite trio from Southern California: We the Commas! Comprised of Cam, Jordy, and Lenny, the Comma brothers are finally here to bless us with utterly luscious melodies and genre-bending righteousness. As a special treat to us, We the Commas making their thrilling debut with an intoxicating new single, “Sherry.”
On “Sherry,” We the Commas explained,
“We wrote the song ‘Sherry’ because we wanted to capture the feeling you get when you feel like you found the perfect romantic partner. Finding your Sherry is just an amazing feeling. Our goal was to create a song that would encompass our full vibe as a band so that people could get to know us and our range. We really wanted to make something that people from multiple generations could enjoy.”
With a self-described “surf alternative R&B” sound, We the Commas is certainly not an emerging talent to be overlooked. Between the whimsical mellotron and the cheery brass, “Sherry” is an absolute masterpiece that perfectly encompasses the feeling of finding someone who completely sweeps you off your feet. The accompanying “Sherry” visual features the Comma brothers doing what they love just as much as music: blissfully surfing at the beach.
“We originally recorded the demo for the song in a small studio in Studio City, CA but the track completely transformed when our producer Chris Rosa brought us over to Sphere Studios in North Hollywood. We got to record through this sick Neve board and we brought in additional musicians, live horns, and a mellotron player. Everything on the record is live.”
