For those of you who are desperate for new music, we’re here to introduce you to our latest British-Guyanese obsession: Sabiyha. Having grown up surrounded by a sizable extended family, Sabiyha has always been accustomed to boisterous noise around her, so it’s no surprise that she found an interest in music. As a clap back to the shady boys of the world, Sabiyha is dropping her assertive new single, “Love Me Alone.”
On “Love Me Alone,” Sabiyha elaborated,
“‘Love Me Alone’ is about rediscovering self-love and empowerment after a time when your confidence feels shaken; something I know many of us can relate to.”
As themes of empowerment and identity ooze out of this R&B anthem, “Love Me Alone” has Sabiyha putting her foot down once and for all. Driven by an inviting dancehall beat, “Love Me Alone” is an important message for everyone to hear because it exudes the very zero tolerance culture our world needs to adopt. After just one listen of “Love Me Alone,” we can safely say Sabiyha is destined for success.
“I’m someone who embraces sexuality, however, that does not give people a free pass to treat me like an object. The behavior of the men I was meeting made me feel ‘like poison,’ assuming I’m someone that I’m not. I was taking that narrative on and near enough shaming myself. I wanted to hear remorse from these guys. This song basically says, ‘I’m over this bullsh*t, I’m not letting this affect my self-worth; I’ll love me.’”
