Sarah Barrios’ “Mourn The Living” Is for Ended Friendships

By Alissa Arunarsirakul // May 29, 2020

When it comes to her musical passion, Sarah Barrios is charging full steam ahead… And we couldn’t be happier for her. The Connecticut native had been writing hits for other artists for years, but now it’s her time to shine. As her second release ever, Barrios is spoiling us with an impeccable new single, “Mourn The Living.”

Trust us when we say that “Mourn The Living” is an astoundingly gorgeous piano ballad unlike any you’ve heard before. As Barrios acknowledges the relationships and friendships that have come and gone, she appreciates these connections for what they were and pushes herself to carry on. The accompanying visual sees Barrios attempting a puzzle, cooking burgers, and making tea alone, but it’s not necessarily an ex that’s missing.

On “Mourn The Living,” Sarah Barrios reflected,

“Whether you break up with someone or fall out with a friend, I think it’s natural to mourn the loss of someone’s presence in your life. But there comes a point where you have to accept that, people move on and continue living and growing, and therefore you should too.”
