Born in New York City, Spencer Barnett has mastered a fusion of indie, alternative, and psychedelic pop that’s here to stay. It makes sense that Barnett has been working with major producers since the age of 14 because of his developed songwriting and sonic approach. Ahead of his highly anticipated forthcoming EP, Welcome to My Mind, Barnett is giving us a preview with the hypnotic title track.
“Welcome to My Mind” is a moody alternative pop cut that offers the best of Barnett. Aside from the stirring electronics and catchy melodies, Barnett’s truthful lyricism shows us a previously hidden side of this Los Angeles based artist. The accompanying visual is a multi-media effort that incorporates vivid colors and Barnett as paper cut outs.
On “Welcome to My Mind,” Spencer Barnett shared,
“On my new song, ‘Welcome to My Mind,’ I discuss my fear of opening up to new people and how it affects me. In the past I’ve written about my feelings through the lens of a relationship, but with this new single I didn’t want people to read between the lines to understand me as a person and an artist.”
