Dance-pop will never die on Betta Lemme’s watch. The trilingual songstress performs in Italian, French, and English, and her undeniable ability to convey truth and emotion in every language is spectacular. After a one year hiatus, Lemme is back and better than ever with an infectious new single, “I’m Bored.”
On “I’m Bored,” Betta Lemme shared,
“‘I’m Bored’ was written as a joke but then real life became a joke and as a result, the song had to become real. The world has been turned upside down. Some are taking it worse than others, some are on the front lines. But for the most part, I feel lucky that I have the ability to stay home and be bored because right now being bored is an absolute privilege. I’m choosing to see the glass half full while being fortunate enough to do my civic duty in pajamas.”
Co-produced by Jonas Jeberg (Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato), “I’m Bored” soon took on a life of its own when Lemme realized that this is a song the world desperately needs to hear in a time of stress and anxiety. “I’m Bored” has Lemme emphasizing how fortunate we are to simply be alive and reminding us to appreciate the most basic aspects of life. The accompanying vertical video features Lemme dabbling in just about everything the rest of us have been doing–like face masks, playing cards, and jam sessions.
“The video is a celebration of boredom because right now boredom is a privilege. I directed and filmed this on my iPhone and it’s the closest thing to being on FaceTime with me. It’s a peek into this new life that people around the world are becoming familiar with. We are all alone in this together. Some people eat a jar of Nutella, read, cry, or have a gazillion video calls each day. Others dance with the stuffed animals they never wanted to admit they had. This is as raw as it gets. Embrace it.”
