Unlike most artists, PRIZM has an indisputable knack for transporting us to another decade with their modern–yet retro–sound. Comprised of Danni James and Krisluv, the Dallas retro-pop duo is known for crafting lively tunes that’ll get you movin’ and groovin’ in no time. To add to their already impressive repertoire, PRIZM is throwing another infectious single our way: “You Should Know.”
On “You Should Know,” PRIZM shared,
“A few months back, we made a playlist of tracks we were vibing with. We were looking for future inspiration and what we could work into the PRIZM sound. These funk and indie pop elements kept jumping out at us and we all thought that would be a lot of fun. So we wrote a song… and then of course scrapped 98% of it and started over. The result was ‘You Should Know.’”
Within seconds of “You Should Know,” we know exactly what we’re in for, which is an explosion of 80s reminiscent pop melodies and the bounciest synths. Lyrically, “You Should Know” is written about the life of the party and wanting to join in on their fun. Although we can’t throw ragers for the time being, we can certainly say “You Should Know” will be on our next party playlist.
“It’s a carefree anthem about a friend who always knows how to have a good time, and how you just wanna be down with whatever they have going on. Like most of our records, we really just want it to be part of your go-out-and-have-a-good-time soundtrack (whenever you’re done sheltering in place in your living room or den or something).”
