Pop newcomer Ry has been one of our obsessions for a few months now, and for good reason. While he juggles the stress of being a university student and a hungry songwriter, Ry continues to grow as a musician one lovely release at a time. If you haven’t heard of Ry already, his enticing new single “Someone” is the perfect opportunity to familiarize yourself with the Los Angeles artist.

By the first line, we know exactly what “Someone” is about. As Ry recounts past loves, we learn that he considered himself blind to the fact that relationships are a two-way street. With bouncy electronics and crushing synths, “Someone” sweeps us away to another dimension where Ry is fully in control of our delicate emotions.

On “Someone,” Ry reflected,

“The idea for ‘Someone’ came from the chorus melody and from there it grew into a song about my relationships. In the past, I never understood how relationships are a two-way street, and through this song I try to express how I was blind to that.”
