With only one previously released single, ciggy is what we’d call a rookie in the music scene. But we couldn’t be more wrong. The Brooklyn-based artist has already proven to us that he’s not here to mess around with his experimental soul. Working with his talented producer, Ankit Suri, ciggy is more than ready to unleash plenty more tracks, with “Place” being the latest.

“Place” is ciggy’s take on modern romance at its finest. Beneath the soothing plucks and ethereal synths, “Place” has ciggy frustrated with how time and love can operate on such separate wavelengths. It’s this very tension that ciggy brings to light as he recognizes that nobody really ever has everything figured out.

On “Place,” ciggy reflected,

“‘Place’ is about falling in love at a time when you don’t really have your sh*t together. There’s an immediate desire to get home–to ‘my place’–to get right. But, at home you see how not right a person really is. So there’s sort of a tension there.”
