Joël isn’t quite like the other cookie cutter artists you find online. The Toronto based stunner fuses his long time love of gospel music and admiration for alternative grunge to create what he considers “grunge gospel.” Starting off 2020 on a high note, Joël ties up some loose ends with his moody new single, “I’m really tryna hear you out but…”
On “I’m really tryna hear you out but…,” Joël shared,
“When I first sketched out the song, I knew it was very special. I tucked it away ‘cause I haven’t gone through the pain and the complications the chords and the melody made me feel. I had a dope idea, but didn’t know what to say. I found myself sitting on my bed battling thoughts in my head from a weird situationship I had just got out of.”
“I’m really tryna hear you out but…” hears Joël pouring his heart onto the page and holding absolutely nothing back. As Joël showcases his blissful free-range vocals, the lo-fi beats scattered across the downtempo track create the perfect mood that nearly gives us goosebumps.
Joël continued,
“Shit was complicated between me and her and I was tired of the back and forth so instead of chilling in my thoughts, I pulled out my notepad and began to write. This song is the bridge that connects all the broken communication we had. It’s a lot of things I wanted to say but didn’t.”
