With plans to overcome the tragedy in his life through music, BAD CHILD channels his alternative rock persona. The Canadian polymath started off making beats on his father’s old Hewlett Packard computer, but it wasn’t until after his mother’s devastating death that he truly resonated with music and began singing. BAD CHILD will be releasing several couplets in 2020, but I, featuring “Candy” and “Behave,” is the first to arrive this year.
On I, BAD CHILD explained,
“‘I’ is presented as a couplet of two brand new tracks (‘Candy’ and ‘Behave’) and is the first installment of a series of new releases over the course of the year.”
Featuring Ryan Chambers, “Candy” is on the original soundtrack for the upcoming Netflix film, To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. “Candy” immediately spoils us with delectable synths and leads into bouncy electronics that are to die for. Because it’s such a fun listen, we’re not surprised this animated tune will be included in the highly anticipated sequel of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.
On “Candy,” BAD CHILD elaborated,
“I’m proud to be a part of Michael Fimognari’s film! It’s wonderful to see so much representation on the big screen and I’m glad I can add my voice to his project!”
The second track of I is “Behave,” which is a whirlwind of booming bass paired with BAD CHILD’s crushing vocals. As BAD CHILD chants “Ooh boy, you better behave,” we can’t help but shout along in unison. With his genre bending tendencies, BAD CHILD is no doubtedly a mastermind in his own right.
